Can't Stand The Rain Page 9
“Then I was mad at him for lying to me and making me waste my time and gas to go all the way over there in the first place. He could have just told me that he was busy and was gone be all night or that tonight just wasn’t a good night. You know, I don’t care if he messes with other girls; I already knew that before I started talking to him. I’m not looking for a relationship with him, I just want the sex. But I also don’t want to witness him being with somebody else when I feel like the attention at that moment belongs to me.”
“You didn’t actually see them together, huh?”
“Yeah, I saw her going to meet him and I’m not stupid. I know what went on even though I didn’t actually see them in bed together.”
“So have you talked to him?”
“No, and I think I’m gonna actually stop talking to him.”
“Why? I thought you didn’t care.”
“I didn’t at first, but on the ride home I was thinking how sometimes when I’m chilling with him, his phone be going off and he’ll ignore it, and sometimes he will answer it when I can tell it’s one of his boys. What if that be other females calling? Well, no that’s not what I mean. I still wouldn’t care if other females called on my time just as long as he don’t answer, but last night he talked to me and responded to my text up until she came and then he didn’t answer my phone calls or text. Then, not even fifteen minutes into my ride home, he texted me apologizing and asking me to come back. If I would’ve been stupid enough to go back because I hadn’t seen her meeting him, he would have slept with me right after sleeping with her.”
“You shole right. That is crazy.”
“Condom or no condom, it is disgusting to sleep with more than one person in one night. And I can’t trust him to be smart no more. I ain’t never had a disease and I don’t want one. I know if I keep messing with him my chances of catching one will be greater. I just left the doctor and got checked for everything so I know I’m good. I can keep up with myself, but I don’t know about him and his other partners. As far as I know he could be sleeping with me and twelve other girls all in the same night.”
“That is true.”
“That is scary. I can’t handle dealing with that. It’s a must to leave this nigga alone. I mean the dick good, but it ain’t that good. AIDS is something serious and that’s all I can think of when I think of that. I wish he would slow down too for his own benefit.”
“So you done with him for good?”
“Yeah, I guess so. Well, I am sexually, but I am not mad at him so I will still talk to him as a friend. I mean, we were already only friends; we were just friends with benefits. That’s why I like the fact that I went into this friendship knowing that I didn’t want to be with him or build a relationship with him. He was so sexy; I just had to have him just for the sex. In the future, I just can’t be left alone with him for too long!” She giggled.
“Aww man, you can’t be slipping now. That is serious, you really got me thinking about that now and it all do make sense. You shouldn’t want to put yourself at risk cause you never know who all he mess with.”
“I know. I’ll just have to find me a new victim. I just don’t want to wait while I’m making him wait. I done got used to getting some on the regular and I made Rick wait for eight months before I gave him some, and you know my usual ‘make em wait time’ is three months. If I meet somebody new, I’m not gonna wanna wait the whole three months going cold turkey. Dang, why Eric had to get married? He wasn’t as good as Rick, but he could still put it down at times and he was more reliable.

“Hello?”
“October what are you doing?” Azylae whispered into the phone on the other end.
“Watching TV. What’s going on, and why are you whispering?”
“That hoe just called Kent cell phone. He was in the shower so I answered; I had a feeling it was her.”
“Are you serious?! So what happened, you got her number now right?”
“Yeah I can’t tell you everything right now, but I need a favor. Can you come get me like right now? We need to take a trip. Wait, is Que still at his grandma house?”
“Yeah, he still there. I’ll be there in ten.”
“Okay, bye. I’ll be outside.”
October tries so hard to be a better person and mother. She tries to avoid conflicts and fights, but as soon as someone upsets her, one of her close friends, or family members, she forgets everything. She got up off the couch and turned the TV off. She had been dressed in her pajamas all day so she ran to her room to slip on some jeans, a bra, and some tennis shoes. After that she ran into her bathroom to grab a scrunchie out of the drawer and slid it on her wrist just in case she would have to pull her hair back into a ponytail. Running out of the house, she grabbed her phone and her keys, locked up and ran to her car. She had a feeling that things were about to get ugly. Apparently, Azylae must have got into it with the girl and she told her where she was or they were about to ride around and find out on their own.
October pulled up and saw Azylae outside arguing with Kent. She could tell that he was trying to talk her out of something, but Azylae’s actions were showing that she was not having it.
She ran and got inside the car and said, “Drive.”
October pulled off leaving Kent standing in front of their home on the curb looking upset. Azylae is not the type to just get into it with anybody ever so October knew that if she was wanting to go meet this girl then this was something serious and October was going to be there to have her back.
“So where we going, where she at?”
Azylae looked over at October and laughed a little bit.
“I don’t really know. I mean she told me her address and I wrote it down with her number, but I’m not sure what side of town this street on. I was so anxious and upset that I can barely read my writing. You know I was trying to be sneaky so I wrote it down so fast. You know where Frost Street is? Or Front, yeah I think that say Front”
October starts to think as she pulled into an empty parking lot and parked.
“No, I think its somewhere in the West End, like off of Major, but I’m not sure. What’s the phone number?”
“651-3629.”
“I’m bout to call her.”
October flipped open her phone and dialed the number that Azylae had just called out to her. It starts to ring and Azylae cuts her off.
“Give it here, let me talk to her. I want her to know I don’t need no one to speak for me.”
October hands the phone over to Azylae as Aubrey answers on her end.
“Hello?”
Azylae put it on speakerphone so that October could hear her as well; it sounded a bit noisy on Aubrey’s end.
“Yes, is this Aubrey?” Azylae asked with attitude.
“Who is this?” Aubrey asked with even more attitude.
Neither one of the women bothered answering the question that they were asked.
“Yeah this her, I can tell. You need to let me know where you are at this very moment or where you prefer us to meet because it’s obvious that we need to talk. And you were talking all that shit on the phone earlier; I’m ready to see what you really about.”
“Oh, this is the bitch who is trynna play housewife with my man, Kent.”
“Yo man?! Bitch you must be delirious.”
“Yeah that’s right. My man, bitch. You might have him right now, but all of that is about to change. Trust and believe that I will not give up on him just because he a little confused right now. I got four years over ya’ll lil’ thang and I know he only wit you right nah because of dat lil’ bastard child, and I ain’t trynna play stepmama at all, but I will get my man back. I know he still in love with me. He told me so and we will get back together.”
With all that babbling Aubrey went on and on about was starting to piss October off; Azylae was already pissed, but wanted to hear what she had to say. On the contrary, October didn’t and de
cided to cut her off. She spoke to her as if she was Azylae to speed up the conversation.
“Okay, enough with all that. Just let me know where we can meet up at. I ain’t got time to hear you babble all night. I want to see you in person, so what’s up?”
“Yeah we can meet up. Don’t like to hear the truth huh?" She chuckled. "Go to Market Basket on Major and I’ll be there.” Click.
Ready and determined to meet, they both hung up the phone. Azylae was so full of anger; it looked as if she was capable of killing Aubrey. October started the car again and drove off heading in the direction of their meeting place.
“I knew that address was somewhere off of Major. Let’s go get this hoe.”
“I swear this hoe about to make me kill her ass. Did you hear what she said about my child? This bitch bout to die for real.”
Azylae was so upset that she couldn’t seem to contain herself. She let her window down all the way and kept hitting the dashboard as she spoke. When she spoke, she spoke with venom in her words and fire in her eyes. October knew how it felt to be this mad and needed to have an outlet so she smashed her gas pedal to the floor of the car, in more of a hurry now than before. Once they pulled into the Market Basket parking lot, Azylae saw Aubrey clowning around with her friends outside her car. Being the attention craver that Aubrey was, she would not be being herself if she was not dancing around and wanting badly to be seen.
“There she is,” Azylae said and pointed.
Once October also spotted her, she pulled up close enough to the car for them to see them but not too close, and parked. They both stepped out of the car and got straight to business.
“Here she is ya’ll! Here’s the young hoe who is trynna take Kent away from me. She trynna trap him with a baby but that shit ain’t gone work with him. He know where it’s good at. I’m here to let you know, he’s mine bitch and I will have him living with me soon.”
As soon as Aubrey saw that it was Azylae getting out of the car, she started to bump her gums and get loud, looking ignorant. Too bad she didn’t know that Azylae was through with all the talking and had not come for that. Azylae continued to walk up on her and as soon as she got within arm’s reach, she reached up and busted her real good in her mouth. Azylae put so much force into that first lick that Aubrey quickly shut her trap and immediately stumbled backwards trying to catch her balance. The blood started flowing from her mouth like a sewage drain and she started choking on what October assumed was a chipped tooth. Azylae did not stop swinging. Aubrey was the same height as October so she towered over Azylae’s short frame, but the height difference was no problem for Azylae. She continued to aim for Aubrey’s face making the perfect landing every single time. Aubrey finally started trying to fight back by grabbing Azylae’s hair and pulling it while trying to swing back.
When one of the girls who came with Aubrey realized that Aubrey was getting her ass handed to her, she decided to try and jump in and help her friend. That was a big mistake. She threw a punch, but it never got its chance to land. Before she could even blink or think October had done pulled her back and started to tear into her. Within a few seconds both Azylae and October had both girls on the ground, with them on top beating the hell out of them. Aubrey’s other two friends realized fairly quickly that they did not want any part of this fight. They just stood back and watched. They didn’t even try and break the fight up out of fear. October had not known or paid any attention to the cars passing by witnessing the fight until she felt someone grab her and pull her off of the friend’s body. That’s when she heard the police sirens and when she looked up she saw a few cars parked. She jerked her arm away and looked up to see a guy whom she did not recognize, but was very relieved to see that he was not an officer. He was telling her that the police were on their way and he did not want them to get arrested. October rushed over to Azylae and tried with all her might to pull her up off of Aubrey. With help from the guy, she finally succeeded. Azylae was able to release all of her anger and frustration on Aubrey and did not surrender until she was satisfied.
Before she allowed them to pull her away, she gave Aubrey one last kick to the face and declared, “Stay away from my family, my home, and my man or you’re dead bitch!”
Then Azylae and October ran back to October’s car and left without saying another word. They needed to flee the scene before the police arrived.
Azylae returned home ready to face the music. She knew that Kent would be upset with her for leaving to go and fight, but she did not care. Beating Aubrey’s ass was something that she had to do and she could not care less how upset Kent was about it. If he wanted to fuss and start up some shit, she was ready to jump in his too. It was all his fault anyways. He had entertained Aubrey’s foolishness for too long, giving her the power that she needed to start some trouble in their relationship. She searched all over their home and Kent was nowhere in sight. She called his name out a few times as well. No answer. She had no idea as to where he had gone, but she had a feeling that wherever he was, he was up to no good.
Azylae went into her stash and grabbed a blunt. She needed to fire something up to help her clear her mind. She had a lot on her mind and she needed time to think things through before she reacted any more off of emotions alone. She went to fire up her blunt until she realized that her lighter was missing.
“Fuck! Where the fuck is my lighter? I know I had one in here.”
She searched all over her room for a lighter. When she reached the dirty clothes basket in the master bedroom, she started to calm down a little. She knew that her and Kent were always forgetting and leaving a lighter inside one of their shirt or pants pockets. She picked up Kent’s jeans that were on top and dug in his front pockets. She was relieved when she pulled out a hand full of change and a lighter as well. She was just about to throw the jeans back into the pile when something told her to check the other pocket. She thought that maybe Kent would have had a sac or a roach in his pocket that she could add to her stash for later. But when Azylae placed her hand inside of her man’s pants pocket, weed was not what she felt. She felt lace material in between her fingers and she turned just as red with anger and rage as the material that she held in her hands just as soon as she realized what it was. In her hands, Azylae help a pair of a woman’s red lace thong panties. Her entire body became inflamed.
“Oh, I’m gone kill that mutha fuccka!”
Chapter 13
Sanayah was sitting in her recliner at home watching Mahogany and reflecting on her life and trying to decide her future. She was unsure about how she should handle this sudden and drastic change. She had just gotten off of the phone with Samuel and must admit that their conversation had her a bit worried. Sanayah had decided to tell Samuel about her pregnancy as soon as she had returned home from visiting her folks, and he was beyond excited. He even accompanied her and Kale to her first doctor’s appointment that following Wednesday. He refused to let her out of his sight for the following few weeks and then suddenly he started to pull back. He called Sanayah and informed her that he had something going on in his life right now that he wanted and needed to set straight before bringing another human being into this world. He said that he would be going away for the weekend and that when he returned on Monday, they would have a serious discussion. Confused as to what they would need to talk about or why he needed to go away, Sanayah called her sister Kale. She felt as if she also needed a weekend getaway to clear her mind.
Kale answered on the first ring. “Heyyyy, sis! I was just about to call you!”
“Oh really? How come? How come you sound so full of cheer?”
Sanayah was not so sure what had her sister so excited; but whatever it was, she had hoped that a piece of it would rub off on her and help her gain a bit of cheer.
Kale could not wait to tell her sister the good news.
“Well, Pit and I were talking and he was telling me how he needs to get rid of some old money that he had hid. Since our birthday is quickly approaching
, as well as Azylae and October’s, he wants to treat us all to a trip to Vegas!”
Sanayah started to perk up a bit. That was exactly what she needed.
“When?”
“For this weekend! We’ve already booked the flights. So, just in case you had any plans, cancel them all. We have some spending to do and some fun to have,” Kale exclaimed.
That was exactly what Sanayah planned on doing, letting her hair down and having as much fun as possible. At first, she wanted her sister to plan them a nice quick getaway on an island or something of the sort, but decided this would be so much better. Being on an island or in a cabin would be nice, but would still give them plenty of time to think. Vegas was filled with entertainment and distractions. It would keep her mind off of her dilemmas and she would not have to be at all concerned with them until she returned.
“Perfect! I was in need of a vacation. That was my reason for calling you, actually. This way I can get my vacation without having to spend a dime. I’m in!”
“Why would you need a vacation, sis? Our baby wearing you out already?”
“Nothing too serious. We will discuss it later. I am about to finish my movie and then shower and bed.”
“Well, okay. Just make sure that we do have that discussion. I gotta go anyways. I gotta finish calling the rest of the Pack and tell them the good news. Love you, big sis! Can’t wait to see you!”
“Love you too, doll. Goodnight.”
The Six Pack, along with Pit, was welcomed into Las Vegas by the vivid and dazzling lights that were displayed and shone all over the city. It was much more beautiful than they all expected, all except for Pit and Kale. Pit has visited this place plenty of times in his hustling days and Kale, being a former resident and dancer, knew what to expect. Even though they both had been many times before, they were still excited about being here, for it was a sight to see.
They rode from the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport in a stretched Excursion. The ride was so amazing and the vehicle was stunning. None of them would have been upset if they never made it to the hotel and ended up staying in the Excursion for the entire trip. It was something like a party bus. There was chilled champagne and fresh fruit for them to jump start the party. They hung all out the windows and the sun roof yelling, just happy to be alive and to be there. Once they arrived at the Palms Casino Resort, the doorman greeted them at their car and took their bags for them. Pit walked over to the driver to thank and speak with him. He took his business card and told him that he would be giving him a call whenever he needed him. After sliding him some extra cash, the guy nodded and drove off.
